Jeff Richman joined Heston Morton as a partner in 2024. Jeff has extensive experience on all aspects of real estate transactions, representing lenders, borrowers, landlords, tenants, developers, sellers and purchasers of commercial real estate throughout the country. Since 2005, Jeff has been employed as General Counsel of M Development LLC, where he oversees all acquisition, financing, joint venture, leasing, development and sale transactions. Jeff has represented M Development in the acquisition, development, financing and leasing of retail, multifamily and hospitality real estate assets throughout the country, including Chicago, IL, Aspen, CO, Palm Beach, FL, Naples, FL, and Jackson Hole, WY.
Prior to joining M Development, Jeff was a real estate attorney at Jenner & Block LLP for 12 years, the last 5 years as a partner. While at Jenner, Jeff worked on all aspects of real estate transactions, representing lenders, borrowers, landlords, tenants, developers, sellers and purchasers of commercial real estate throughout the country.
Representative transactions worked on by Jeff include the following:
- Oversaw the acquisition, financing, leasing, and development of dozens of commercial properties in Chicago, IL and Aspen, CO.
- Negotiated and documented various joint ventures for the ownership and development of dozens of commercial properties in Chicago, IL, Aspen, CO, Palm Beach, FL, Naples, FL and Jackson Hole, WY.
- Oversaw all legal aspects of the acquisition, financing and leasing of a 29-property retail portfolio in Naples, FL.
- Negotiated and documented leases on behalf of landlords with numerous retailers, hotels and restaurants throughout the country, including RH (formerly Restoration Hardware), Chanel, Gucci, Lululemon, Barneys New York, Urban Outfitters, Trader Joes, Walgreens, Starbucks, Canada Goose, GFore, Christian Louboutin, Dolce & Gabbana, Theory, Citibank, Del Frisco’s Steakhouse, Lettuce Entertain You Restaurants, Club Monaco, AT&T, Verizon, Nobu Restaurant, Arhaus Furniture, Carhartt, LeSportsac, Bebe and Intermix.
- Represents a national student housing development company in negotiating all retail leases for its portfolio throughout the U.S.
- Advised and represented borrowers in the financing, work-out and restructuring of various first mortgage and mezzanine loans totaling in excess of $1 billion.
- Negotiated hotel management agreements on behalf of hotel owners for luxury hotels in Chicago, IL and Jackson Hole, WY.
- Represented developers in negotiating construction contracts and architect’s agreements for the construction of numerous buildings in Aspen, CO and Chicago, IL, including for over 1.5 million square feet at Citadel Center in Chicago, IL.
